White Rim Trail in Utah

If you like mountain biking, then Utah is a haven. And the White Rim Trail is one of the best mountain biking trails around. The trail consists of a 110 mile loop, surrounded by the beauties of Canyonlands National Park. The cool thing about Canyonlands National Park and White Rim Trail is that both are blessedly free of the crowds that one finds at other national parks and in mountain biking meccas like Moab, Utah.
White Rim Trail’s name comes from the towering sandstone cliffs. However, the spectacular cliffs are not all that can be seen on your journey. You can see Musselman Arch, White Crack, Upheaval Dome, Monument Basin (a breathtaking view) and Fort Bottom. I recommend taking around three days to enjoy the scenery while attacking White Rim Trail, even though if you really push it, you can do the whole thing in one day. There are only two very difficult stretches: Hardscrabble Bottom and Murphy Hogback. And, of course, the entire trail is punctuated with Utah’s famous slickrock. There are jeep trails, so watch for 4×4s. You will need a backcountry permit to camp.
