Travel Safety Abroad–Help from the U.S. Government
by
Whether you are an American traveling abroad, or a someone visiting the U.S., knowing about travel safety is as important as knowing where to go and what you need. Travel safety tips, like carrying as little cash as possible (credit cards are a good idea for keeping your money safe when traveling) and knowing where your country’s embassy or consulate is located, are important. You also keep in mind where safe areas are. This is especially important when you are an American traveling abroad. Keeping track of travel safety warnings is important. And while there are adventurous souls who brave danger, many casual travelers prefer to avoid hotspots.
The U.S. government offers some good travel safety tips on the State Department’s travel Web site. You can learn what you need in order to travel abroad, as well as what is required if you wish to come to the U.S. And for citizens, rules of re-entry have changed, so it is a good idea to check up where you stand.
